Loy Kratong Yee Peng Lanterns Festival in Chiang Mai 2017

The twin festivals of Loy Krathong and Yee Peng are celebrated every year in Thailand. There are 3 days of festivities with the most amazing part being this awe inspiring sight, as thousands of people light lanterns and let them off into the night sky. The festivals are celebrated in different ways across the country. Letting off lanterns and also offering little floating candles into rivers is another.

Loy Krathong 2017 in Chiang Mai was celebrated the most along the Ping River where many thousands of people let off the lanterns for “Good Merit”. Think of it as a wishing well, as you let off your lantern you hope for peace, health and perhaps a special wish for you, your partner and your family.
